Off the court

Basic Administration

We are keen that this league has as small a footprint in your lives as possible, but these are the things you need to do in order to participate.

Form a team.

Your team can comprise up to eight players all of whom will need to be registered with Basketball England. (We will require B.E. licence numbers as part of your registration with the league.)

Appoint a team administrator.

This is the person who will arrange fixtures and be the contact for your team.

Games

Last year we allocated games for each month and invited teams to arrange a time and book a court. This worked to some extent but some teams found it difficult to get fixtures played and so we now have booked a venue for one Sunday a month. This gives us a two hour slot in which to play league games and may leave some time for friendlies as well.
Dates for the Sunday sessions are posted on the Play Dates page, and games will be scheduled according to team availability.

Points and Results

Points will be awarded as follows:
1 Point for turning up for the fixture.
1 extra point for a win.

Disputes

We really don't expect to have to take action in order to settle disputes between adults over a game played for fun. However, if problems arise that can't re resolved, we will attempt to mediate.

The spirit of the game

Above all, this is to be friendly. We will be logging results but the point of the league is to play some enjoyable basketball in a friendly atmosphere. We want all participants to enjoy winning but to enjoy playing more.
